LYS Ensembles

LYS encompasses three performing groups:

LONGMONT YOUTH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA, an honors symphony orchestra (including string, wind, brass and percussion instruments) for advanced student musicians. Rehearsals take place on Saturday mornings throughout the school year from 9:00am to 11:45am. Six performances per year, including side-by-side performances with the Longmont Symphony Orchestra and the Boulder Symphony Orchestra as well as joint concerts with our other ensembles.

LONGMONT YOUTH STRINGS ENSEMBLE, a strings-only orchestra. Rehearsals take place on Saturday mornings throughout the school year from 9:00am to 10:30am. Three performances per year, including a joint performance with our other ensembles.

LONGMONT YOUTH WIND ENSEMBLE, a wind and brass orchestra. Rehearsals take place on Saturday mornings throughout the school year from 9:00am to 10:30am. Several performances per year, including a joint concert with our other ensembles. ALL WIND/BRASS PLAYERS IN THE LYSO ARE REQUIRED TO ALSO PARTICIPATE IN THE LYWE.

SCHOLARSHIPS are available for ALL ensembles!
